A Heartfelt Announcement from Growth Spurtz 🌻

Back in 2020, during lockdown, Growth Spurtz was born. I was working from home, homeschooling a 6-year-old, caring for a baby, and had just become a single mum. Out of that chaos came a dream; to build something of my own, doing something that I love, that worked around family life. My children were only going to be that little once and I wanted to spend as much time as I could with them to cherish that special time.

It began with an idea, inspired by lockdown walks with my children. Shops were closed and I wanted to provide a solution for mums-to-be and parents to buy affordable and good quality second hand maternity and kids clothing online. I began buying clothes from other mums in my local area and my stock quickly grew.

From photographing clothes on my dining table, to building my website and brand from scratch, running social media, advertising and handling all enquiries myself — I poured everything into this little business. My children have grown alongside it — from stock taking over my bedroom, to outgrowing a storage unit and a small warehouse space, and finally moving into a lovely big office space, where we are today. Every photo taken, every parcel packed, every message replied to has been done by me alone. And it’s been more than just work — it has truly been my passion. 💕

So many of you have been with me from the very beginning — buying your maternity clothes, then babywear, toddler outfits and right through to children’s clothes as your families (and mine!) have grown. Some of you have even sold your clothes back to us, making circular fashion exactly what it should be. That means the world to me.♻️ 💚

Along the way, we’ve saved thousands of items from landfill, supported mums-to-be and families, and built a little community I’ll always be grateful for.

In 2024, like many small businesses, I felt the decline in sales with the rise of Vinted. So, I decided that if you can’t beat them — join them! I moved our entire Growth Spurtz inventory over, and it was the best decision I could have made. From there I expanded into other lines, including vintage clothing, and sales began to grow again. 

In 2024 I also took on a part time role with a lovely local charity helping to co-ordinate the online sales of their donated goods. It was very rewarding to be able to pass on my reselling skills and knowledge to support adults with learning disabilities ❤️

Life begins at 40! Or so they say. Unfortunately last summer I suffered a serious back injury which led to chronic pain and then emergency surgery in August this year. While I’m on the mend, I’ve come to accept that the physical demands of running this business aren’t sustainable for me long term. It’s one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but it’s time to put my health first, and find a new and exciting direction for the future.

We will be closing the website and Vinted shop over the next few weeks/months depending on how quickly the stock clears. All updates will be posted on social media and through email to all website subscribers.

To my customers, thank you so much for supporting me and Growth Spurtz through these past five years. You’ve all been part of my journey as much as my children have — and I’ll never forget it! 💚🌻
